Viettel announced new pricing for its Internet protocol (IP) leased-line service Thursday. The cheapest lease line offers 64 kilobits per second at $300 per month, whereas a 10-megabit connection costs $6,400. The offering is targeted at businesses with high bandwidth needs. The pricing plan includes discounts for long-term contracts, high bandwidth usage and advance payments. The wholly owned subsidiary of the Vietnamese military offers Internet, fixed-line telephone and mobile-phone services under its Metfone brand. A leased line provides a permanent, dedicated connection between two locations.
