Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol chaired a June 1 meeting to discuss feasibility studies of upcoming Sihanoukville Logistics Centre expansion project.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that the meeting was attended by representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and officials from the transport ministry, as well as members of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Management, Land, Urban Planning and Construction, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The meeting was held – online and in-person – to introduce the IFC working group and outline the objectives of the project.

The nature of the management of the state-private sector partnership project was also explored, with a presentation on how the IFC would manage the project, and discussions of how the ministries would communicate and coordinate their oversight of the project.

The public works ministry explained that the Sihanoukville Logistics Centre was a priority project, in line with the Comprehensive Intermodal Transport Master Plan 2022-2030. When combined with the Phnom Penh logistics complex project, it is hoped the Kingdom will become a major regional logistics hub.
