The Bon Phka Raksmey Samaki Cheat Ceremony to mark the construction of the 108m-tall Preah Puth Padima Buddha statue and 84,000 smaller Buddha figures on Bokor Mountain in Kampot province is to commence on March 1, 2024.

The ceremony will be held over three days, from March 1-3, and with support and the acceptance of the blessings offered by the monks profoundly appreciated, everyone is invited with deepest respect to share in the celebration.

Samdech Preah Akka Mohasangreacheathipadei, and the esteemed Samdech Preah Sang director and deputy director, along with Preah Mekhan capital and provincial authorities, are pleased to announce the holding of the Bon Phka Raksmey Samaki Cheat Ceremony. 

The auspicious occasion – held in collaboration with Neak Oknha Sok Kong, Lok Chumteav and family, Excellencies, Lok Chumteav, Neak Oknha, Oknha, monks of all ranks and Buddhists from Cambodia and abroad – will mark the start of construction on the magnificent Buddha statue.

Buddhists seeking to contribute to the construction and earn merit are welcome to participate in a number of ways, including, notably, with the opportunity to donate smaller 0.31m x 0.25m x 0.165m Buddha statues. 

These will be placed within the base of the larger monument, serving as a lasting legacy for generations to come, with the names of donors and their families, grandparents and children, all able to be inscribed on the statues.

It is envisioned that the sacred site will serve as a beacon of cultural, religious and national pride for generations to come.
