Metfone celebrated 15 hugely successful years of operations in the Kingdom with a glittering event at Sokha Hotel on February 19, 2024, with the occasion also serving as the launch of its new TV360 digital TV app.
Minister of National Defence H.E. Tea Seiha presided over the event, which was attended by representatives from other government ministries, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, Viettel Group Chairman and CEO Tao Duc Thang, Metfone CEO Cao Manh Duc, and other dignitaries.
TV360 is a digital TV app allowing all smart device users to watch popular TV shows and movies, along with video clips and free of charge of data internet –for Metfone subscribers only – and many other entertainment applications.
And the night brought further jubilation, with King Norodom Sihamoni having bestowed Royal Order of Monisaraphon, Moha Sereyvath class, medals in recognition of Viettel Group and Metfone’s contributions over the past 15 years.
Viettel Group CEO Chairman and Tao Duc Thang, Viettel Global CEO Phung Van Cuong, and Metfone CEO Cao Manh Duc received medals, with Viettel Cambodia honoured collectively.
Cao Manh Duc stated that Metfone’s greatest achievement, even beyond business results and receiving accolades, was gaining the solid trust of its customers.
“Originating from the vision of ‘giving first, receiving later’, Metfone – which prides itself on being built on the happiness of the people of Cambodia – has become a trusted telecommunications provider in the Kingdom.
“Metfone’s 15-year journey has built trust and happiness through sincerity and the values that Metfone has brought to Cambodia, with this the driving force for us to strive harder to create more value for the Kingdom and its people,” said Cao Manh Duc.
Since its official launch in Cambodia on February 19, 2009, Metfone, with its widespread fibre optic infrastructure, has made considerable breakthroughs in expanding coverage to remote places, enabling residents in rural, border and island areas to access telecommunications services at reasonable prices.
Such achievements have contributed to elevating Cambodia’s telecommunications status to match that of other countries in the region, thereby stimulating socioeconomic development.
And Metfone has in recent years contributed some $130 million annually to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s budget, ranking among the top five contributors.
To date, Metfone has contributed more than $1 billion to the Cambodian government, playing a significant role in building social infrastructure and directly benefiting the Kingdom and its people.
Beyond economic contributions, Metfone is also a comprehensive development enterprise, consistently implementing large-scale social programmes, with a total accumulated contribution of $120 million to various social and charitable activities such as healthcare and education.
Metfone also leads in the transition to data, with 92.5 per cent of its subscribers using 4G, placing it among the highest data usage rates globally, with this growth stemming from Metfone’s commitment to maintaining the widest coverage to reach all people across Cambodia.
And Metfone will continue leading the digital transformation in Cambodia, building digital further infrastructure and platforms, and providing services to create a digital society with four main pillars – telecommunications (mobile and fixed broadband); information technology solutions; digital finance; and digital services.
