JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 
The Phnom Penh Post, the oldest independent media company in Cambodia, is seeking full-time candidate for the following position:
 

Sub-Editor: 02 positions

 
Main duties and responsibilities
• Report to Deputy Managing Editor PE/ Managing Editor
• Lay out wire/National pages and manage layouts using InDesign/InCopy
• Communicate closely with reporters
 
Qualifications/experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or other related fields (preferred but not a must)
• Excellent command of English is a must; proficiency in Khmer an asset
• News/business reporting experience
• At least one to two years’ experience as sub-editor
• Familiar with names of state institutions
• Familiar with specific language used in court, business and politics
• Sound understanding of local politics and business atmosphere
• Cambodians preferred but foreign nationals are encouraged to apply
 

Lifestyle Sub Editor: 1 position

 
Main duties and responsibilities
• Reporting to lifestyle editor on all day-to-day matters
• Selecting, translating, and editing the stories of the lifestyle output
• Leading reporters to generate ideas and produce appealing content
• Managing page layouts using InDesign and InCopy softwares
• Developing own story ideas, covering, and writing article and features where time allows
 
Qualifications/experience required
• A Degree in journalism or a Bachelor of Arts (preferred but not vital)
• Good knowledge in art, culture, entertainment, food, travel, and lifestyle-related topics
• Passion to explore and cover digital, tech and innovation related story
• Language fluency and ability to write well in English and Khmer
• Good collaboration and able to grow as a team
• Previous experience in lifestyle desk or newsroom is a plus
