Chan Phalkun, an 18-year-old photography lover, admits to being totally obsessed with taking self-portraits or “selfies” as they're known in social media circles. After a lot of practice she has selfies down to a fine art and reveals to Lift how to look beautiful in every photo you take.

When asked to show Lift her talent for self-portraits, she doesn’t hesitate, assuredly taking out her phone and switching it to the camera function before naturally stretching out her right hand with the screen facing her before a light touch of the screen.

For Phalkun, a selfie can perfectly reflect the personality of a person – friendly, playful or serious. “If you take a photo with a grin, you are seen as cheerful. But when you do it without a smile on your face, of course, you are viewed as serious.”

How to looking beautiful in a self-portrait? “It’s simple,” she says. “What I need is a slight, friendly smile along with my eyes slightly open. This makes me look naturally attractive and the viewers find me friendly and a bit playful. ”

“And don’t forget, light is the life of your photo. If it’s a little dark, get more light through editing, and the photo will be perfectly beautiful.”

Though, she adds, it’s important to “discover your own style to look best in photographs – and don’t be afraid to show it.”
