National Assembly President Heng Samrin, in his capacity as honorary president of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), said his party remains dedicated to enhancing national unity, disregarding political affiliation, gender, religion, ethnicity, or social status.
Speaking at the inauguration of a temple at Botum Prek pagoda in Popel village and commune of Tbong Khmum province late last week, Heng Samrin declared the party’s commitment to maintaining achievements, ensuring peace, stability, prosperity, and development, and protecting the nation’s future prosperity.
He said under his party’s leadership, Cambodians have achieved numerous historical milestones over the past four decades. These collective efforts helped rebuild a war-torn nation and that the CPP was determined to further strengthen national unity, regardless of political affiliation, gender, religion, ethnicity, or social status.
He urged Buddhist monks and followers to safeguard these accomplishments and preserve them for future generations.
Prime Minister Hun Sen also echoed the call for unity, emphasising the vital role of peace in driving development.
During his meeting with workers in Kampong Speu province on June 4, he stressed that without peace, factories would shut down, leaving workers unemployed.
He reaffirmed protecting peace was a shared responsibility and not limited to the Prime Minister alone. He said only his CPP had the ability to find and safeguard peace.
Yang Kim Eng, president of the People’s Centre for Development and Peace, commented on the ruling party’s commitment, stating national solidarity was crucial for effective governance and leadership.
He commended the CPP’s dedication to uniting people of diverse political affiliations and religious backgrounds, highlighting the positive reception it has received.
