Xi Jinping was re-elected president of the People's Republic of China by members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and re-elected as chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) at the 14th National People's Congress on March 10, according to Chinese media outlet Xinhua.

“On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Cambodian people, I would like to express, with great pleasure, my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency on your re-election for a third term as the president of the People's Republic of China,” Hun Sen said in a March 10 letter.

Hun Sen said that, under Xi’s leadership, China has made tremendous strides in enhancing the livelihoods of the Chinese people and it had achieved historic multifaceted development in the last several years.

He said Cambodia and China have been enjoying remarkable growth in cooperation in all aspects and have maintained frequent high-level exchanges and visits.

“The concurrence reached during our meeting last month has injected fresh impetus into advancing our “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation”.

“Given our ironclad friendship, Cambodia stands ready to work closely with China to foster the ‘Diamond Cooperation Framework’ and deepen the building of the ‘Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future’ for the common interest of our countries and our peoples as well as for stability, peace and development in the region and beyond,” Hun Sen wrote.
