National Assembly President Heng Samrin and his Vietnamese counterpart Vuong Dinh Hue oversaw the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the secretariats of each parliament to strengthen parliament-level cooperation between the two countries.

The National Assembly said on its social media page on November 19 that this MoU is aimed at strengthening cooperation at all levels through exchange visits by senior officials, sharing experiences among expert committees of the parliaments, information sharing and mutual support at regional and international parliamentary forums.

Both leaders said they appreciated the progress they had made with the MoU while observing the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both sides also said they are committed to strengthening cooperation under the slogan “good neighbors, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable cooperation”.

“Cambodia’s National Assembly supports the progress of the cooperation between the two governments so far,” Samrin said.

Dinh Hue also expressed his satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries and he urged Cambodia’s parliament to implement it at all levels.

Dinh Hue is visiting Cambodia from November 19-23 to attend the 43rd ASEAN Inter Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Samrin said that Dinh Hue’s presence in Cambodia to attend the AIPA is an honour for Cambodia and a great contribution to the success of the summit.
