Minister of Interior Sar Sokha has dismissed at least 67 police officers from different provincial forces, as well as the immigration department, for returning positive tests for illegal narcotics.

According to documents dated March 1 and obtained by The Post on March 7, they were from different several capital districts and provinces across the country.

Among them, 8 were immigration police officers, while 13 were from different districts in Phnom Penh. Battambang and Ratanakkiri provinces each saw 6 officers fired.

Interior ministry spokesman Touch Sokhak confirmed to The Post that all of them returned positive drug tests.

Prime Minister Hun Manet and Interior Minister Sokha recently declared strict measures would be taken against any civil servants and members of the national police or armed forces who were found to have involved in the use, sale or trafficking of drugs.

Manet added that they would face dismissal, without exception.
