Australia will continue its support for Cambodia in all sectors, including sustainable economic development, to contribute to the stability of Cambodia and other countries in the region.

Meanwhile, Cambodia thanked Australia for its assistance in agriculture and human resource development in Cambodia.

The support was expressed at a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on November 12 in Phnom Penh.

Following the meeting, Hun Sen’s personal assistant Eang Sophalleth said that Albanese had congratulated Prime Minister Hun Sen on successfully leading the 40th and 41st ASEAN summits.

“The Australian Prime Minister commended Prime Minister Hun Sen for his leadership and congratulated Cambodia its rapid development. He also commended Hun Sen for his close attention to solving the Myanmar crisis. He is also pleased with cooperation between the two countries and investments between Australia and Cambodia, which are bearing fruit,” he added.

He added that at the meeting, Australia reiterated its stance to continue to support Cambodia in all sectors, including sustainable economic development, smart energy, the digital economy, the green economy and other areas, to make the region, including Cambodia, stable and prosperous.

“Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with the relationship between Cambodia and Australia. He thanked the Australian Prime Minister and the Australian government for stopping recognition of the Khmer Rouge at the United Nations in 1983, and for helping Cambodia with agriculture, peace, the development of its human resources and its assistance and investment in Cambodia,” Sophalleth stated.
