Agricultural officials launched an operation on October 21 to vaccinate 1,496 cattle against foot and mouth disease in three villages in Chhnuor Meanchey commune of Banteay Meanchey province’s Preah Netr Preah district.

The intervention team came from the production and veterinary office of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Department of Animal Health and Production, the Preah Netr Preah district administration, the Agricultural, Environment and Natural Resources office and the commune authorities and village animal health agents.

In a report, the Provincial Department of Agriculture said that there are a total of 1,507 cows and 135 buffalos in the three villages of Kork Trach, Kork Pong and Ro Peak. The officials managed to vaccinate 1,395 cows and 101 buffalos against hoof and mouth disease.

The report said that Tan Phanara, the director-general of the General Directorate of Animal Health and Production was on hand along with Khlok Nouy, the deputy governor of Banteay Meanchey, and Pang Vannaset, director of the provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
