THE new CEO of the Mekong River Commission, Jorn Kristensen, is expected to
take office some time in mid September.
Kristensen, a Dane, has worked
with the UN Drugs Commission for four years and has spent considerable time in
Burma. He is currently based in Vienna. Kristensen's home country, Denmark, is
by far the biggest donor to the Mekong River Commission and recently pledged a
further $4.18 million in funding for freshwater fish research.
