Australian Leigh Matthews has been nominated for the prestigious Young Australian of the Year award for work helping Cambodians evicted to the Andong relocation site, 20 kilometres south of Phnom Penh. The award, given by the National Australia Day Council, recognises Australians aged 16 to 30. Organisers say Matthew's enormous effort in helping Cambodians and refusal to give in demonstrates that individuals can achieve anything. "I hope this will bring awareness to the plight of Cambodians and others at risk of land grabbing," she said.
