The Cambodian government has approved the creation of a lifeguard security force to protect tourists visiting coastal areas, according to a subdecree signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen. The lifeguards will provide protection for swimmers and liaise with local authorities to provide security along beaches, according to the December 31 subdecree. “We are working to create a school to train lifeguards and to make them knowledgeable about assisting tourists,” said Tourism Minister Thong Khon.
