Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 836 cases of the coronavirus Delta variant, including the latest 78 cases confirmed by the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge on August 19.

In a press release late on August 20, the Ministry of Health said Delta has already spread to 23 of the Kingdom's 25 capital and provinces, except Kep and Kratie.

The ministry said all the 836 cases were found on airplane passengers, migrant workers, local people, staff of public and private institutions, medical workers, military personnel, prisoners, factory workers and students, among others.

According to the ministry's figures, Phnom Penh has recorded the most cases at 168 – including the latest 30 cases recorded on August 19 – followed by Oddar Meanchey at 165 cases and Siem Reap at 130.

Health minister Mam Bun Heng has reiterated his call for the public to remain vigilant at all times.
