Hun Manet, deputy commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), has instructed all units under the army to get ready to execute the tasks assigned to them and other orders from the government, especially rescue operations for any unforeseen disasters.

During a meeting on October 5 to review progress made over the first nine months of this year, Manet praised the commanders, deputy commanders and soldiers from all units under the army for their achievements.

These, he said, include maintaining territorial sovereignty, peace, stability, security and public order, upgrading the capacity of all sectors, providing support for veterans and carrying out rescue operations for the people affected by floods.

Within two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, Manet said, the army have been actively assisting the government in combating the disease, such as by ensuring security at treatment and quarantine facilities, transporting food aid to the affected people, enforcing lockdown measures, disinfecting public places, transporting migrant workers from the Thai border and vaccinating people against Covid-19 across the country.
