‘Meth party’ over

Disgraced property tycoon and former Chea Sim adviser Tan Senghak will face drug-trafficking charges early next month, a municipal court official said yesterday.

Senghak was arrested last November with five others when police raided an apparent meth party at his home – seizing firearms and such drugs as cocaine and methamphetamines.

“They will be tried for charges of trafficking and being accomplices to drug trafficking on May 9,” said judge Kim Dany.

If Senghak is convicted, it would be the second time the Oknha faces prison.

In 2007, Senghak was released from Prey Sar prison after serving a two-year sentence for fraud and breach of trust.

According to him, it was then that he had picked up drugs, after he struggled – and failed – to reintegrate into society.

Senghak has insisted he is innocent, telling the Post in January that he has “never been involved in drug trafficking. The police brought drugs to put in my house, accusing and arresting me.”
