A worker, killed when the truck he was in overturned in Kampot’s Teuk Chhou district, was one of seven to die on the Kingdom’s roads last Friday.

Nob Sareth, director of the provincial traffic police department, said the truck had swerved to avoid colliding with an oncoming motorbike when it hit a tree and overturned, injuring seven.

The truck was transporting workers responsible for setting up power lines.

“We arrested the driver and sent him to court yesterday,” Sareth said.

According to the National Police website, there were 13 traffic accidents last Friday that left seven dead and 25 injured.

Speed, alcohol and careless overtaking contributed to the accidents.
