Peace, political stability and economic development are responsible for the many achievements of the Ministry of Environment, said minister Say Samal.

“People have undergone a shift from complete reliance on natural resources to family farming or machinery-dependant industry, and the Kingdom now has many environmentally friendly operations,” he said.

Samal was delivering a May 11 lecture on natural resources management in Cambodia to 237 attendees, including instructors and trainees at the Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship Police Academy in Phnom Sruoch district of Kampong Speu province.

“The historical facts about Cambodia’s journey to peace are the foundation of something that all civil servants, police officers and members of the armed forces need to understand. Our nation was born from a sea of blood, piles of bones and the ashes of war,” he said.

He explained that it was thanks to the win-win policy of Prime minister Hun Sen that Cambodia now enjoys peace, public order, political stability and national unity.

“The Kingdom is moving towards a new era of civilisation, one of a strong state, a capable people with high expectations, and a cleaner and greener environment,” he said.

The environment ministry is tasked with managing and caring for the environment, protecting natural resources and wealth, and conserving biodiversity in a sustainable way, he noted.
