Any individual who deliberately disobeys administrative measures aimed at preventing Covid-19 transmission faces a fine of between one and five million riel ($250 and $1,250) and is subject to criminal proceedings, according to an inter-ministerial prakas.

The prakas, signed by Minister of Interior Sar Kheng and Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmonirath on April 9, grants municipal and provincial administrations full authority to enforce the measures, with the proceeds going to their own coffers.

«Sub-national administrations shall impose fines on violators based on each offence at their discretion and allocate the proceeds to their own annual budget," states the prakas.
