Anti-drug police arrested four Thai nationals and seized 41kg of illegal drugs during a recent crackdown in Phnom Penh.

The National Police said in a September 2 social media post that the arrest and seizure followed a month-long investigation into the case involving the Thai nationals who were transporting the drugs in Chroy Changvar commune’s village III of the capital’s Chroy Changvar district.

“The suspects drove their car into the police in an attempt to escape and even fired eight gunshots at our officers, prompting us to return fires in self-defence, killing one suspect and injuring another,” said the post.

It noted that police seized 41kg of drugs, including 12kg of ketamine, 29kg of MDMA, two cars and two pistols. The police are building a case file for referral to court.
