Germany renews commitment to demining assitance for Cambodia

A German delegation led by Ferdinand von Weyhe, head of the German Federal Foreign Office’s division for Humanitarian Mine Action, pledged their continued support for the Kingdom’s demining operations.

“Germany remains committed to assisting Cambodia to achieving its Mine-Free 2025 goal and will continue to help with relevant activities after 2025,” said Weyhe.

The commitment was in response to calls from Prum Sopheak Mongkol, vice-president of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA).

Mongkol took to social media to lobby the German National Assembly to continue supporting Cambodia to achieve the 2025 mine-free goal.

Weyhe accompanied Mongkol on a March 30 visit to the Anlong Veng headquarters of the international demining NGO Halo Trust.
