A 25-year-old man in the United States has pleaded guilty of participating in a Cambodian marriage scam, according to US media reports. Justin Michael Martin pleaded guilty to charges of marriage fraud and conspiracy to commit marriage fraud, The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Tuesday. The US Department of Justice had alleged that Martin was one part of a “large-scale marriage fraud ring” that involved US citizens travelling to Cambodia and engaging in “fraudulent marriages” in order to obtain permanent residence status for Cambodian citizens.
