Hun Sen gets 4th Covid shot, urges compatriots to follow

Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany on January 14 received their fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccine and called on compatriots to follow suit as the Omicron coronavirus variant continues to spread in the community.

This marks the launch of Cambodia's fourth-dose vaccination campaign, starting in Phnom Penh before expanding nationwide.

Hun Sen reiterated the call in a Facebook post accompanied by pictures of himself and his wife receiving the booster shots.

“Today, my wife and I received our booster doses to prevent Covid-19 infection. There are no better choices than vaccination and adherence to health measures including the three dos and three don'ts,” he said.

“I have bodyguards to protect me everywhere I go. But they cannot protect me from getting infected with the virus. My wife, my children and grandchildren cannot protect me either; only I can protect myself.

“Again, I call on all compatriots to go get the jabs, both the [two-dose] regimen and booster shots in order to protect ourselves, families, villages, commune, and our entire nation,” he said.

The premier and his wife took their third dose in mid-September last year.
