Kandal rape suspects put in court detention

Three men accused of raping a 20-year-old woman on Sunday were charged and put into pre-trial detention by Kandal provincial court on Monday.

Provincial court spokesman So Sarin identified the three as Lorn Him, 32, Srin Sror, 18, and Chok Nark, 20.

Provincial deputy police chief and anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection head Chhim Vanny said the incident occurred at 6:30pm when the victim and a friend were riding home in Koh Thom district.

The three suspects approached the women when they stopped by a river bank near Prek Sdei pagoda. When the victim’s friend left the scene, the three suspects raped her.

After the assault, the victim encountered police patrolling in the area and informed them of the incident. All three accused were detained on the spot.
