Kassie Neou reprieve

National Election Commission member Kassie Neou has reportedly been given assurances

by Prime Minister Hun Sen that his widely-touted imminent dismissal from the NEC

would in fact not occur. "...the government is in no position to take any chances

right now since none of the donor countries has committed any funds for the commune

elections so far" a donor source told the Post regarding Neou's reprieve. Neou

confirmed that he had met with the Prime Minister, but that their discussions had

not touched on the matter of his NEC position.
