MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - The first main contingent of South Korean soldiers arrived
July 31 to join the 27-nation U.N. peacekeeping coalition here.
About 190 army engineers sang patriotic songs at a brief arrival ceremony at a military
airfield in south Mogadishu that has been the target of several recent mortar and
small arms attacks.
Their arrival aboard a civilian jet brought the total U.N. troops strength in Somalia
to 21,690, official said.
