A two-day meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly taking place in Phnom Penh this week is set to address cultural diversity in the region. Cheam Yeap, a lawmaker from the Cambodian People’s Party, said about 20 legislators from Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Iran, Kuwait, Syria, Turkey, the Maldives and Thailand are expected to attend the meeting, which is scheduled to begin today and conclude tomorrow. “We will talk about cultural issues, and we will find ways to protect and respect each others’ culture,” he said.
