KUALA LUMPUR (AP) - Malaysia hopes Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Burma will
join the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), Prime Minister Mahathir
Mohamad said Oct. 8.
Mahathir said Malaysia believes that only when all Southeast Asian nations "are
joined together by a common sense of purpose that ASEAN has come to symbolize can
there be mutual trust, peace and stability in the entire Southeast Asian region."
