Police have arrested a man and will produce him at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Tuesday for allegedly raping his five-year-old stepdaughter on Sunday in the capital’s Russey Keo district.

Police said the arrest on Monday was made following a complaint lodged by the suspect’s wife, Sou Manet, 38. Kol Yi, the district police chief, identified the suspect as Ek Vandouch, 28.

“We are preparing the documents to send [the suspect] to court on Tuesday,” he said.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to raping the victim up to four times throughout July.
