Minister of Health Chheang Ra directed officials to prioritise improving professional ethics and law enforcement for the successful implementation of universal health coverage (UHC) in Cambodia.
During an inspection and meeting with National Centre for Health Promotion (NCHP) leaders on January 3, Ra commended their dedication, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, and offered recommendations to enhance the quality, safety, inclusivity and innovation of the centre’s laboratories.
He noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Department of Drugs and Food and other relevant units.
“Let’s focus on boosting professional ethics and law enforcement in healthcare. Strengthen governance and management through continuous leadership and innovation training, promoting the modernisation of work using available technological opportunities,” he said.
He urged leaders and health officials to care for buildings and medical equipment, particularly laboratories. Continuous training for practical skills is essential for diversification and economic growth, promoting inclusivity and resilience.

Prime Minister Hun Manet recently instructed the ministry to enhance measures, focusing on improved services and increased medical treatment capacity. They are preparing an action plan for implementation.
“We must elevate our people’s health treatment level. While the treatment phase is crucial, the government’s primary focus should be preventing people from falling ill in the first place,” Manet said.
Preah Vihear provincial health department director Kuong Lo said the main goal of the health services implemented is to provide quality, effective, equitable and safe treatment to people. The department has instructed the medical team to pay increased attention to this objective.
“We consistently adhere to the guidelines and recommendations of the ministry and provincial authorities, prioritising quality, efficiency and timely responses in the delivery of services to the people,” he said.
