The Ministry of Health has revoked the licences of two healthcare facilities in Phnom Penh for failing to meet technical conditions and contractual obligations.

The affected clinics are the Hem Chanyuthy Clinic in the Por Sen Chey district and the Sear Heur Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic in Chamkarmon.

Por Sen Chey district governor Sak Chankanharith decided to close the clinic there on September 11. The decision came after a technical team from the ministry and the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department found that the facility had not met the required regulatory standards and had violated its legal agreements.

The clinic in the Chamkarmon district was closed due to similar reasons.

When reached for comment on September 13, Ngy Mean Heng, director of the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department, was unavailable due to a meeting.

Ley Sopheap, president of the Medical Pharmacist Association of Cambodia, supported the ministry’s actions.

“This is a matter of public health. The revocations serve as a warning to other facilities,” he said.

Minister of Health Chheang Ra, has previously warned that all healthcare providers, including hospitals and clinics, must adhere to professional standards and respect contract provisions.

“Collaboration between authorities and the health sector is crucial to ensure quality, effective, safe and equitable healthcare services,” he stated.
