Acting Mondulkiri provincial governor Nuon Saran said the specialist commissions of the province and Vietnam's Dak Lak had found the remains of 697 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and returned them to their home country.
Saran announced this at a September 29 meeting of the two commissions on the implementation of exploration and repatriation of the remains of the Vietnamese, who were killed during wartime in Mondulkiri.
He asked that the commission from Vietnam's Dak Lak province continue to cooperate with the Cambodian local authorities and residents, and strictly respect the traditions of the locals and indigenous people, and especially the law of the Kingdom.
“We must provide cooperation and coordinate with the task force from Dak Lak province to make it easier for them to explore and repatriate the remains of their compatriots to their home country,” said Saran.
Heu Yim Kadort, vice-president of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee and chair of the Dak Lak specialist commission, hail rapid growth and development in Mondulkiri.
She offered her deepest thanks to the provincial leaders and local authorities for providing cooperation and support, and making it easier for the task force to locate and repatriate the remains.
