National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) on March 18 held a meeting with stakeholders to review documents linked to a community-based national drug addiction rehabilitation centre set to be inaugurated in Preah Sihanouk province.

The launch is planned for March 22, to be presided over by NACD chairman Ke Kim Yan, the authority said on March 18.

March 18’s meeting was led by Kim Yan, and attended by the NACD secretary-general, along with representatives from the health and social affairs ministries.

Kim Yan said that he had earlier instructed the NACD as well as relevant ministries, institutions, and entities in the capital and the provinces to prepare a plan that centres on drug control efforts, combatting money laundering and other financial crimes related to the illicit drug trade, and ensuring that villages and communes are drug-free.

He also ordered the preparation of the corresponding legal instruments, and the dissemination of relevant documents to factories and enterprises that use certain chemical substances.
