The Consumer Protection, Competition, and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF), together with Germany's development agency GIZ, have wrapped up their last nationwide consumer law dissemination workshop of the year.

This marked the sixth iteration of the event, held at the Battambang Provincial Hall on June 15.

These workshops, initiated in 2022, spread awareness about implementing three critical Cambodian laws on consumer protection, competition and food safety. Their goal is to facilitate fair trade, promote honest business practices, and safeguard consumer interests and welfare.

The Battambang workshop was primarily aimed at providing a more precise understanding of these laws for business owners, consumers and law enforcement officers, while also shedding light on potential infringements and the penalties associated with them.

CCF deputy director-general Khuon Savuth, acting Battambang provincial governor Soeum Bunrith and Seng Dalin, economic cooperation and private sector development adviser for GIZ Cambodia, were all in attendance.

The workshop also hosted about 250 representatives from local businesses, chambers of commerce from five provinces, various units and departments around Battambang, and the Battambang court, along with monks, students and CCF officials.
