The National Employment Agency (NEA) under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, in collaboration with the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), organised a two-day job fair and career guide, with a total of 4,500 job opportunities from 25 companies.

Supported by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the fair took place on June 13-14 at The Kampus, located near the Kbal Thnal overpass in the capital’s Chamkar Mon district.

During the opening ceremony, NEA deputy director Dy Changkolny emphasised that such job fair and career guides are integral to the government’s employment service mechanism.

“This fair marks the second year of creating an active atmosphere and makes a timely response to expanding the scope of jobs and attracting a potential and skilled workforce to fill job vacancies in all sectors,” she said.

Changkolny further explained that the main purpose of this job fair was to establish a direct communication platform, enabling job seekers to understand job requirements, recruitment processes and submit applications.

Liu Yutong, a representative of the ILO, said the job fair and career guides provided a significant opportunity for young job seekers.

“Jobs and careers are vital for everyone, and they are equally important to the International Labour Union,” he said.

Som Monorom, director of the Secretariat of the UYFC Phnom Penh branch, acknowledged the high demand for human capital in the Cambodian labour market. Over the course of two days, 4,500 job opportunities had been made available for young people.

“Young individuals must strive to learn and acquire clear skills in order to seize a wide range of job opportunities,” he said.

The 25 companies participating in this job fair and career guides come from key sectors such as banking and insurance, wholesale and retail, information and communication technology (ICT), electronics, hose production, animal feed production and training, among others.

The NEA has been organising the largest national job fairs in Phnom Penh since 2011. Another two-day job fair and career guide is scheduled for November 10-11 at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in the capital.
