The capital’s Prek Pnov district police will send a murder suspect to the municipal court on Friday, following his arrest in Kouk Roka commune’s Andong village on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old man allegedly killed his uncle who was disabled from the waist down, district police chief Chin Kimthuy said on Thursday.

The victim was identified as a 44-year-old man.

Kimthuy said the suspect was arrested a few hours after he killed his uncle.

The suspect’s urine tested positive for illegal substances, he added.

Kouk Roka commune police chief Suon Sam Oeun said the suspect and victim had a verbal argument, and amid the quarrel on Wednesday, the victim grabbed a wooden stick to intimidate the suspect.

The suspect then took the stick from Kirivuth’s hand and started whacking the latter on the head and other parts of his body several times until the victim died at the scene, Sam Oeun said.

He said the suspect hid the stick under a bed after the killing. Commune police arrested him hours after receiving a report from a neighbour.
