Prey Veng man accused of raping his daughter

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter in Prey Veng province.

Svay Anthor commune police chief Thoeng Vorn said yesterday the suspect, 36, raped his eldest daughter at least twice. “The third time, in May 2016, the suspect tried to rape her again, but she held a knife in her hand . . . that scared the suspect away,” Vorn said.

According to the victim’s mother, Vorn said, the father was often drunk and violent, but he did not injure her or the children.

The victim’s mother reported the matter to police when she found semen stains on her daughter’s trousers; the 14-year-old then told her mother about the rapes.

Hun Saron, a district police official, said the father denied the allegations.
