From Tuesday, the cover price of The Phnom Penh Post (Khmer) is being raised by 500 riel to 1500 riel. This is the first cover-price rise for Post Khmer since its launch on 9/9/09.

The price of the English-language edition of the newspaper will remain unchanged at R4000.

Post Media Ltd publisher Ross Dunkley said the move was necessary because of the rising cost of international quality newsprint.

“For more than two years, we’ve kept the price unchanged. And for many months now, we have been absorbing the extra cost for our newsprint, which we source from Indonesia. We have carried this extra cost for as long as possible, but finally we have to pass some of this on,” Dunkley said.

“However, readers continue to get the best value per page in all of Cambodia.

“We have been steadily increasing the size of the newspaper; since we started on a daily cycle, the paper is now 30 per cent larger. We remain extremely good value at R1500.”

Under the new pricing, a one-month subscription will cost  $7.50, a three-month  subscription is $20,  six months is $35 and a year, $60.

See the subscription form on Page 18.
