China will almost triple its military aid to Cambodia next year, giving $2.4 million
dollars, Reuters reported September 25. The pledge came during a visit to Phnom Penh
by the Chinese army's chief of staff, Fu Quanyou. The cash will be used to fund training,
with some Cambodian officers traveling to China for instruction. A Cambodian military
spokesman welcomed the move, saying military cooperation between the two countries
was getting "stronger and stronger".
