Prime Minister Hun Sen plans to launch the 63km National Road 21 in Kandal province on March 23, after the recent completion of reconstruction work, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Stretching from Takhmao town south to Chrey Thom village on the border with Vietnam, National Road 21 was built by South Korea's Hanshin Engineering and Construction Co Ltd and technically inspected by DASAN Consultants Co Ltd, the ministry said in a Facebook post on March 4.

“Through efforts by [minister Sun Chanthol], careful consideration has been given to the road, from the beginning of construction to the completion of work,” the post said.

It added that, throughout the undertaking, Chanthol conducted a number of inspections and monitored the methods used in the construction.

The ministry said it also installed a weigh station to prevent overweight vehicles on the road, to preserve the infrastructure.
