A couple's quarrel resulted in the death of the husband, after the wife stabbed his left thigh on Sunday, Siem Reap province’s Banteay Srey district Military Police deputy commander Keo Sarin told The Post on Monday.

Chheng Bros, 24, a soldier based in the province’s 2nd Intervention Regiment, died at the provincial referral hospital after having “lost too much blood”, Sarin said.

Sarin said Beng Sok Leap, 19, stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife at about 2pm after they got into an argument. She wanted to divorce him, but Bros did not disagree with Sok Leap’s demand.

“There was no witness at the scene. The suspect has already been brought to provincial court. She is facing a charge of ‘intentional acts of violence with aggravating circumstances’,” Sarin said.

Sarin added that a funeral was held at Bros’ army base.
