A SOLDIER lost his right foot after stepping on a landmine in Pursat province’s Veal Veng district on Wednesday, officials said. Phan Phorn, a 39-year-old Royal Cambodian Armed Forces soldier, was in the forest helping his wife find trees for broom-making when he stepped on a concealed landmine, said Sok Bunthoeurn, commander of RCAF Battalion 508. The incident occurred near the Thai border in Thma Da commune’s Sangkum Thmey village. The victim was sent to a hospital in Thailand. BUTH REAKSMEY KONGKEA
