Anti-human trafficking police are set to send three suspects to Phnom Penh Municipal Court for offering prostitution services at their massage parlour in Boeung Salang commune in the capital’s Tuol Kork district.

Four victims have also been sent to the Municipal Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation after the raid on Monday.

The clampdown was conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department in collaboration with local authorities.

Chhiv Phally, the director of the Ministry of Interior’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department, said the three suspects were owners of the massage parlour.

“The trio will be sent to court [on Wednesday], in accordance with legal procedures. Police had spent many months investigating their business before the crackdown,” he said.

He said three of the four victims were minors aged 17, and that the Social Affairs department will send them to a vocational centre for professional training.

During the raid, police found several used and new condoms and a Chinese passport, among other things. Phally said police also found drug-related equipment in the parlour’s basement and were working with anti-drug officers to conduct urine tests to determine if the trio were involved with drugs.

“Regarding the [Chinese] passport, I cannot say anything yet, I need to investigate first,” he said.

The National Police website said a total of 50 condoms were found at the parlour, which has since been shuttered.
