The Ministry of Tourism has instructed the municipal and provincial tourism departments to strengthen their monitoring on businesses in the tourism sector to prevent the coronavirus, especially its Delta variant, from spreading.
In an announcement dated July 31, tourism minister Thong Khon told the departments to work closely with local authorities to ensure that the businesses and other service providers comply with safety measures.
The departments have to cooperate with local authorities to inspect and ban non-essential businesses such as KTVs, nightclubs, beer gardens, resorts, theme parks, massage parlor and sport centres, among others.
“All businesses and service providers have to follow the measures in place. Failure to comply will result in business suspension.
“Register the identity of customers such as address and contact details. All customers have to scan the 'Stop Covid' QR Code before entry” it said.
The departments must also strictly implement the government’s lockdown order for Siem Reap and seven provinces bordering Thailand – Koh Kong, Pursat, Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear.
