The United Nations Development Programme has appointed a new Country Director to
Cambodia. Jo Scheuer, formerly the UNDP's Senior Deputy Resident Representative in
New Delhi, India, has been assigned the position, having previously worked in locations
as varied as Niger, Papua New Guinea and Nepal. Reportedly optimistic about Cambodia's
future, Luxembourg national Scheuer has a "history of managerial expertise covering
everything from sustainable livelihoods, to human development, HIV/AIDS, environment
and energy, and democratic governance", according to a press release.
