The National Election Committee (NEC) announced on October 5 that 68,030 people, including 22,756 women, had already registered to vote by October 3. The NEC also said that 5,646 people had been canceled from voting lists due to death, change of address or repetitions on the voting list.

The official voting registration period began on October 1 and will continue until October 20.

The NEC estimates that there will be 577,205 new voters registering to vote this year.

On October 5, the NEC also organized a roundtable meeting with representatives from all political parties to discuss controversial issues relating to name verification and voter lists.
