Asleep at the wheel, driver fails to escape

Possibly sleepy, a truck driver did not wake up quickly enough to succeed in fleeing the scene of an accident, when he hit a man on a motorbike in Ratanakkiri’s O’Chum district on Saturday.

The truck was heading in the same direction as the motorbike when they collided, sending the victim flying about 15 metres, police said. The victim broke a thigh.

Police arrested the suspect during an escape attempt, and said he may have been sleeping when he hit the victim. KOH SANTEPHEAP
