Birthday invite spirals into a barbecue brawl

An outnumbered group was dragged into a “gang fight” in front of a barbecue restaurant in the capital’s Por Sen Chey district on Friday, police and witnesses said.

Six young people, both male and female, had come to the restaurant to invite two of the servers to a birthday party on Koh Pich.

But while they were waiting, a group of 20 arrived and attacked the smaller group.

Though the six tried to take cover in the restaurant, the bigger group started smashing up chairs and motorbikes.

Police only arrived in time to arrest one 15-year-old suspect.
